Cosmopolitan Calgary Is The Greatest Place To Reside in Canada

When you think about the top spots for luxury living in the USA, there...

When you think about the top spots for luxury living in the USA, there are certain locations that spring to mind time and again. The Hamptons, Malibu, Palm Beach, Martha’s Vineyard, for example. Yet one exclusive zip code that is home to luxury residences in gated communities and has boasted some A-list celebrity residents over the years is enjoying an unprecedented real estate boom. It seems that the secret is finally out about Paradise Valley, Arizona.

Spacious, modern properties

The sudden spike in demand means that unlike most of the areas mentioned above, properties tend to be modern in design, with more new builds appearing all the time. Don’t let that deter you, however. Paradise Valley is subject to R-43 zoning rules, which essentially means one house per acre, so space and privacy come as standard, as do such features as private pools, tennis courts, gyms and so on in sleek, modern, villa-style homes.

A high-end but tranquil vibe

Put simply, the people of Paradise Valley have got it but don’t flaunt it. Famous residents of past and present include Muhammad Ali, Robert Mitcham, Alice Cooper, Alicia Keys, Michael Phelps and Dan Quayle. However, it is not what you would call a party town.

It’s certainly more tranquil than somewhere like Beverly Hills or Manhattan. Having said that, there’s no shortage of fine dining restaurants and high end cocktail bars that offer top quality food and drink along with breath-taking views – ideal for a sundowner or two.

Sport and leisure

It will probably come as no surprise that Paradise Valley is served by dozens of golf courses, both private and public. In fact, there are 98 all told within a 20-mile radius! The most exclusive is part of Paradise Valley Country Club, where members also have access to tennis, spa and fitness facilities plus a range of functions and social events throughout the year.

If you are more a watcher than a doer, the Footprint Center and Chase Field are both a 20-minute drive away. And remember, since last October, there is legal sports betting in Arizona, too.

Property prices

In October 2021, the median price for a home in Paradise Valley was $2.5 million. That’s up from $1.13 million in October 2019, so prices have more than doubled in two years. That median price will buy you a luxury villa-style family property within a gated community. $5 million will buy a property in the heart of the valley on a 2-3 acre plot, while the largest estates, typically either newly built or renovated, can easily change hands north of $10 million.

The secret is out

Enclosed by scenic mountains, the community of Paradise Valley covers around 16 square miles and is home to about 14,000 residents. For years, it’s been one of America’s best kept secrets, nestled alongside the better-known suburb of Scottsdale. but now the secret is out, and Paradise Valley is gaining a wider reputation for luxury living.
